Our Halls are Decked...

The tree is up. Kevin and I debated whether or not we were going to put up a tree. We got through this every year. Is it worth the hassle? Can we keep Caroline out of it? Is it going to be in one piece through the holidays? While we were thinking about it I took Caroline with me to the grocery store. While we were there she saw a Christmas tree that was lit and decorated. She kept staring and pointing at it. I asked her if she wanted to go home and put up a Christmas tree. She said, "Yeap!" (She says that for everything right now. I asked her if she was going to cook dinner tonight and she said, "Yeap!") I took that to mean all systems go! Kevin had the tree up when we got home. He put the lights on while I put her to bed and I put ornaments up. That was involved also. I can't put up some of my favorite or prized ornaments in case she decides the tree is her new playtoy. I have some ornaments that I would cry if I lost them. So we put up ornaments that are cute and pretty and Caroline-friendly. The tree also looks a little funny because it is decorated only half way up. We put one or two ornaments where she could reach them. I want her to get comfortable with them being there even though she can't play with them. Yeah right!
The tree looks really good. We have a strand that twinkles. I love Christmas. I just got through making our Christmas cards. I am so proud of myself. I made our cards instead of settling for the ones you find at Wal-mart. Also these are 4X6 and can fit in a photo album after the holidays. Some of the old Christmas cards that we get don't fit in anything so I don't know what to do with them. I have posted our card below. I downloaded the pages from a great website: the Shabby Princess so thanks to them. I will hopefully have this printed and sent out by Monday! Fingers crossed and the creek don't rise.

Over the river and through the woods...

Dee Dee has a new house.
My mom decided that she was sick of Goldsboro and decided to sell her house. She was going to take her time selling it since the market is so soft. She called an agent, listed the house and in the first few days had 3 people who wanted to see it. She said ok and in 6 days of listing the house she had an offer that she accepted. So much for going slow. Well, she decided she needed a house to move to so she went to Wilmington and drove around with Big Peg and found a 3 bedroom house she likes. She made a low ball offer on the house and she got it! WOW!! So now we can just go home to Wilmington and see everyone.

The brith of a mama

Finally at 14 months Caroline said "mama". Well, it was more like "mamamamamamamama" but it made me melt none the less.

Kevin left this afternoon for Brunswick, GA. He is doing his surgery rotation and will be gone for five weeks. He gets to come home for Thanksgiving for about 4 days and then he will go back for one more week. I am trying not to think about how long he will be gone. I am trying to think about what I am doing tomorrow and then the next day. We'll see how it goes. If I can't do this for the whole five weeks then I might be heading to my mom's.

In the beginning...

So I finally joined the 21st century and created my own blog. I'm not sure if my life is interesting enough to blog about but I will let you be the judge of that. I will also post some of my digital scrapbook pages up. I am finally getting into that realm of design (thanks Putnam girls). I am using Photoshop and I love it. Here is my newest one! You can also click on "My Scrapbook Gallery" link to see more.
